Side effects may include: drowsiness, dizziness, nausea, stomach cramps, dry mouth, weight gain, insomnia, decreased sex drive or constipation. What in the world?! Are you serious?! This is what every television viewer hears as commercials advertise medications. I don’t know about you, but hearing that stuff just makes me nervous and not want to take any of those pills.

Now, let me make some things clear before I hurt people with this post. First, I am not a doctor or nutritionist nor am I certified in this area. However, I love this topic and have a lot of personal experience with medical issues and healing. Actually, one of my goals in the next 5 years is to take classes on using natural foods to bring healing. Pray that God makes a way for me to start that process! Thank you 🙂

So, with that being said, I absolutely understand that some people have to take prescribed medication. In no way am I telling people to get off their prescribed meds (that’s between you, your doctor, and Jesus). However, I absolutely am going to encourage everyone to take a minute to think about  your bodies. Some of us (or people we love) have been very affected physically because of  poor decisions in our past or present behaviors. Stay with me now—I love people. I also love to see people healthy and living their lives to the fullest. So, I hate sickness and disease, especially when it comes as a result of our poor decisions. This post comes from that place.

As many of you may know, God began speaking to me in 2010 about my personal health (stomach issues, my skin and my weight). My last weigh-in of 2010 logged me in at almost 170lbs. I was 186lbs when I was 14-years old, so that scale scared the heebie jeebies out of me. Unfortunately, in my own strength and without a revelation from my Daddy God, I would have never been able to lose weight or even better, learn how to take care of my body holistically–body, mind and spirit. I was focused on taking care of my mind and my spirit, but was totally neglecting my body. Let me share a few things I began to learn in 2010 that helped me begin my journey:

  • Sugar is one of the largest addictions in the world. (one of my biggest struggles as well!)
  • Sugar is extremely addictive and it stimulates our brain almost exactly like cocaine and heroin do.
  • There are more than 700,000 deaths a year due to obesity related diseases, heart disease, type 2 diabetes and cancer.

I can go on for days about things I have learned from my studies, but the point is that all these things lead to unhealthy living, which eventually can lead to skin issues, stomach issues and many other health problems that require continual medical care.

That leads me to this scripture–1 Corinthians 6:19, which says that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. God so wants us to be healthy! So, with that, God has given us everything we need to live healthy and promote natural healing. The Creator of the heavens and the earth thought of everything we need as humans to survive and live healthy and prosperous lives.

When I look back and think about the last 6 years of making changes in my health, I realize I have learned a lot. I’ve learned that I have things in my own home that can provide relief to some common medical issues. I’ve also realized that I have made some purchases that seemed to be expensive at the moment, but really helped my body heal in the long run. Investing in certain products even helped prevent certain pains or illnesses from becoming a problem in my life. Because I love people, and because I see how amazing these things have worked for me, I want to share it with the world.

God really wants to speak to us concerning every area of our lives. He wants our families, our marriages, our friendships, our careers, our finances and our bodies to be whole. He wants us to live our lives without limitations, and without sickness and disease. All of us have a destiny that God wants us to fulfill. Let’s not let fatigue, weariness, sickness or disease stop us from fully engaging with God, our loved ones and people in this process.

One last thing–there are people I love who are sick and have medical issues that have nothing to do with anything they have done. However, healthy eating, consuming natural things like ginger, turmeric, veggies and certain supplements has also really brought them relief. If you are someone who is suffering from an illness, pain or discomfort of any form and you desire to learn more about natural healing, I would encourage you to do some research. There are so many awesome resources out there. I would also encourage you to see a naturopathic doctor, if your able. They will encourage you and help you in the process of going more natural route on the way to your healing.

God is good and He will bring revelation on what you need to take out of your diet, or things you can add (food, supplements, herbs, essential oils, etc.) to help you live a full life. I’m still working on this in my own personal life, but I have definitely made progress. I’m so passionate about this that I will be adding a tip of the week on my Instagram and Facebook to help those of you who follow me and are interested.

Please share your thoughts and even feel free to post questions on the comments page. If I can help, I sure will!

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.
