pizzaI have a confession. I love pizza If you don’t know, Its been 4 years that I changed my eating habits. I quit steak, pork, making fried food, soda, iced tea and many other foods that I really ate too much of but there is one thing I will not let go of and that is Pizza. Last week, after starting 2015 with no meats, no sweets and no dairy for 21 days….towards the end, very excitedly, I thought of what I wanted to have as my first meal and quickly a extra saucy, cheesy pizza popped into my mind. Waiting anxiously, I had my pizza the same day. Don’t judge me.

Did you know that in America, pizza is a $32 billion dollar a year industry. Obviously, I’m not the only one that loves pizza. After further studies, I learned that the average person will eat at least 46 slices of pizza a year and most pizza lovers can eat pizza for breakfast, lunch or dinner.

After some thought, I really thought to myself that I could so eat pizza 3-4x a week and not be bored. There are so many types of pizza.  Deep Dish pizza, thin crust pizza, wheat crust, cheesy crust, Sicilian pizza, NY pizza and so much more that I’m sure I don’t even know about. Before my lifestyle change, my favorite pizza was a perfectly baked greasy pepperoni pizza from Pizza Hut. I had to quit after learning that Pizza Hut actually fries their dough. Yummy but no thanks. Totally makes sense why I loved it so much back in the day. Nothing like a artery clogging meal, then we wonder why so many Americans are overweight. Anyhoot, I wont get on that soap box. Now a days, I prefer to throw down on a delicious gourmet pizza with a thin crust, barbecue sauce, gouda cheese, chicken, sautéed red onions and some cilantro to make it complete. This sounds quite perfect right about now. WOW, admit it…your mouth is getting watery.

I really would love to thank the genius that came up with the idea of throwing tomato sauce, cheese and some other  yummy ingredients on a piece of dough and throwing it in the oven to make the perfect crispy pizza. GENIUS you are and I will forever be grateful.

I totally believe, when I get to heaven, there will be a pizza buffet with every type of pizza there, more types than I could ever imagine. The funnest thought is, I won’t gain a pound. One more reason to look forward to heaven.

I have my favorite pizzas, but what’s your perfect pizza?
